Strengthening community resilience across the district

  • As global uncertainty continues to influence everything from supply chains to fuel prices, strengthening local resilience has never been more important. Across the Queenstown Lakes District, Council is working alongside iwi, emergency services, and community groups to make sure our communities are better prepared for the kinds of disruptions that increasingly affect Aotearoa - from severe weather events to the flow‑on impacts of rising costs and international instability.

A big part of this mahi happens through our network of Community Resilience Groups - local volunteers who know their neighbourhoods best and play a vital role in community readiness, response, and recovery. These groups help build practical skills, strengthen local connections, and ensure people have the information and support they need before an emergency happens.

To keep everyone in the loop, the network has launched a newsletter, Ready for Anything, sharing updates, tips, local stories, and ways to get involved.

If you’re keen to see what your local group is up to or want to learn how you can support community resilience in your neighbourhood, check out the latest edition of Ready for Anything here and sign up for future editions here
