We’re pleased to share that the Queenstown Lakes District Council has formally adopted the 2025–2028 Climate and Biodiversity Plan.
The plan sets out how our district will take action over the next three years to reduce emissions, restore biodiversity, and build resilience to a changing climate. It includes 50 actions across seven outcome areas, each supported by indicative budgets and timelines.
This updated plan has been shaped by our community. Through consultation in May and June 2025, we received 97 submissions, with strong support for ambitious climate leadership and a clear message that protecting and regenerating our natural environment must remain a top priority.
Adopting the plan marks an important milestone, but the real work begins now. Implementation of the 50 actions will be delivered through QLDC’s Annual Plan and Long-Term Plan, with progress reported every six months to Council and shared here on the Climate Action website.
Together, we’re taking steps toward a more resilient, climate-friendly, and biodiversity-rich future for our district.
